A very famous Englishman (very English, you know, and, just for the reccord, very man, too) has recently visited Chile to lecture to the natives on Oxford's tutorial system. He happens to speak Spanish and he understands what he reads, what most native Spanish speakers do not dare to do in my country, particularly when it comes to irony. Chileans are very astute and they know for sure that understanding irony tends to be dangerous, so they have, for the most part, exclude the obscene language of intelligence.
That was just an introduction to tell you that this sober intellectual, who declares himself to be not a conservative but rather a paleo-conservative, has told a group of surprised youngsters that he is well informed about Chile through this blog, humble as it is (this is irony, stupid!).
Now I understand that he, the famous academic from London's most egregious Thomas More Institute, must be the only Englishman suitably informed about this long and thin country in South America.
I am flettered, very proud indeed.

ResponderBorrarLarga vida a los blogs!
paleo-conservativ... no me gusta el conservantismo o conservadurismo o... como se lo quiera denominar; pero, supongo que en GB tiene ciertos tintes revolucionarios :)
Saludos y felicitaciones!
